Online Therapy for the Musically-Minded
How can you benefit from this blend of clinical counselling and music therapy?
I can help you address your mental health and well-being concerns while nurturing your creativity. My approach is especially effective because it invites you to not only think and talk about these different ways of being, but to practice doing that and experience that different way of being in real-time in music. This is beneficial because you are drawing on expert support and your own creativity to address your mental health and well-being challenges

What happens during a session?
We address what is bothering you in a talk-music-talk model. First, we talk about the challenge you’re bringing in. Then, we address the challenge in music together. I suggest a structured musical experience to support your needs. For example, we might make improvise based on a specific emotional theme, or write a song for well-being purposes. I usually make music at the same time as you. We then talk about the music-making and connect it to the concern you brought in.
The purpose of this music is to work with your concerns, not to make “aesthetically beautiful music”. No one else will hear this music.
A bit more about my experience in this field.
I have been practicing music therapy for mental health for 13 years and have the training and experience to support your needs. I hold PhD and Master’s degrees specializing in music, mental health and well-being, and have additional training in counselling psychology.
I listen well and offer unconditional positive regard. I know what it is to feel isolated and alone, to be someone who feels things deeply and yet doesn’t feel like they “fit in”. To be someone who feels at home around artistic practices and people. I am familiar with common and not-so-common concerns and I know how to listen and help.
